Board Report

At the Monday, May 19 Swanton Public Library Board of Trustees meeting, trustees:

  • Accepted a bid from Brint Electric for updating the lighting.
  • Updated the library building's liability and property coverage.
  • Adopted a petty cash policy and an emergency remote work policy.
  • Updated the weather closing policy.
  • The next Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for 6:30 pm on Monday, June 16. The public is welcome to attend.

The Board acknowledges the following gifts with gratitude:

  • Memorials for Cynthia Agosti-Syrek from Susan Applin and Mary Koepfer
  • A donation from Swanton Rotary Club in support of Summer Reading
  • A donation from Hope Network/LINC

Color Me Calm 

Adults, please come and color your stress away while listening to music and enjoying coffee or tea. Join us at 1:30 pm on Tuesday, June 10. All supplies provided, but feel free to bring some of your own.

                

The SPL Garden Is Expanding!

The library’s garden boxes near Rotary Park are expanding this summer under the care of SPL’s Head of Adult Services. Vegetables, herbs, and flowers will be grown; feel free to stop by to help in the garden or pick some delectable delights to take home!

 

Did You Know? SPL has lockers located at the front door that can be accessed anytime, even after hours. Fill out the online form on our website or call us to schedule a pickup.

Ongoing Opportunities

  • Chair Yoga Mondays at 4:30 pm. Physical therapist Dawn Seigneur will lead a class in chair yoga. Classes are $5.00 per person. 
  • Dungeons & Dragons ClubTuesdays, June 3, 10, and 24 at 4:30 pm. Please bring a fifth edition third-level character sheet if possible; pre-generated characters will also be available. New players, register online. 
  • D&D Workshop Tuesday, June 17 at 4:30 pm. Work on character creation, miniature painting, and more.
  • Writers’ Group – The group will work on a writing challenge during June and meet again on Thursday, July 3 at 6:00 pm. Join freelance author Nathan Jacobs and other writers to discuss your work. All skill levels welcome! 
  • Fiber Arts Fiends Wednesdays, June 11 and 25 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Fiber artists of all levels are invited to join.
  • Seam Rippers Sewing Club – Check the calendar to see when the club will meet in July. Bring a sewing project. Packed lunches welcome! 
  • End Times Bible Study Wednesdays at 1:00 pm. Tom Proudfoot will lead a study on the book True Worship: Key to Avoiding the Mark of the Beast. Participants receive a free copy.
  • ChessNutsWednesdays at 5:00 pm. Adults of all skill levels welcome to play chess. 
  • Swanton Historical Society Fridays at 10:00 am. Anyone interested in joining or volunteering is welcome!

 

Scavenger Hunt for All Ages

Walk around outside to find the items and do the activities on the scavenger hunt worksheet. Teams get certificates from Burger King and an entry into a drawing for a Movie Night Pack! Good luck!
