Board Report
At the Monday, October 28 Swanton Public Library Board of Trustees meeting, trustees:
- Approved a quote to begin work on replacing the building’s gutters.
- Discussed updating the building’s lighting; a call for bids for the project will be posted in the coming weeks.
- Discussed upgrading the library’s wiring and computer equipment.
- Updated the bereavement leave policy.
- The next regular Board of Trustees meeting is scheduled for 7:00 pm on Monday, November 18. The public is welcome to attend.

Ongoing Opportunities
- Chair Yoga – Mondays at 4:30 pm. Physical therapist Dawn Seigneur will be here to lead a class in chair yoga. Classes are $5.00 per person. Registration is not required.
- Dungeons & Dragons Club – Tuesdays, November 5, 12, and 26 at 5:00 pm. Please bring a 5th edition third-level character sheet if possible; pre-generated characters will also be available. New players, please register online.
- Fiber Arts Fiends – Wednesday, November 13 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Fiber artists of all levels invited to join! A special Medicare Patrol speaker will attend – check the front for details.
- Writers’ Group – Thursdays, November 7 and 21 at 6:00 pm. Join freelance author Nathan Jacobs and other writers to discuss your work. All skill levels welcome!
- Seam Rippers Sewing Group – Wednesday, November 13 from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Bring your current sewing project. Packed lunches welcome!
- ChessNuts – Wednesdays at 5:00 pm. Adults of all skill levels welcome.
- Swanton Historical Society – Fridays at 10:00 am. Anyone interested in volunteering or joining is welcome!
Adult Book Clubs
- Gretchen’s Book Club: Join our local book club at 5:30 pm on Thursday, November 14 to discuss the speculative thriller Dark Matter by Blake Crouch, about a man who awakens in a world different from the reality he thought he knew.
- BYOB Club: BYOB (Bring Your Own Book) and join us for a lively book discussion at 6:00 pm on Monday, November 18. We will discuss The Housemaid’s Secret by Freida McFadden.
