Board Report

At the Monday, March 18 Swanton Library Board Trustees meeting:

  • Trustees approved the implementing the E-Rate program to update the building’s internet and communication infrastructure.
  • The next Board meeting is Monday, April 15 at 7:00 pm. The public is welcome to attend.

The Board of Trustees acknowledges the following gifts with gratitude:

  • Donations from LINC/Hope Network
  • A donation from Sarah Roe for storytime snacks
  • A donation from Alpha Lambda for a Scan-n-Cut machine.

Cardmaking: Ladies & Gentle-grads

Celebrate the ladies and the graduates in your life this month! Join instructor Anna Geis at 5:30 pm on Thursday, April 11 to make three cards for Mother’s Day or graduation. Class fee is $7/person; all supplies provided. Please register online or call by April 9!

Ongoing Opportunities

  • Writers’ GroupThursdays, April 4 and 18 at 6:00 pm. Join freelance author Nathan Jacobs and other writers to discuss your work. All skill levels welcome! 
  • Dungeons & Dragons Club Tuesdays, April 16 and 30 at 4:30 pm. Please bring a 5th edition third-level character sheet if possible; pre-generated characters will also be available. All ages invited. Free; register online. 
  • Fiber Arts Fiends Wednesdays, April 3 and 17 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Fiber artists of all levels invited to join!
  • Seam Rippers Sewing Group Wednesday, April 24 from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Bring a sewing project. Packed lunches welcome! 
  • ChessNuts Wednesdays at 5:00 pm. Play with other enthusiasts! Adults of all skill levels welcome. 
  • Swanton Historical Society Fridays at 10:00 am. Anyone interested in joining or volunteering is welcome!

 

Chair Yoga Classes 

Physical therapist Dawn Seigneur will be here on Mondays at 4:30 pm to lead a class in chair yoga. Classes are $5.00 per person. Registration is not required. No class on April 8.

 

Dog licenses for Fulton County can now be purchased and renewed at Swanton Public Library.

 

Adult Book Clubs

  • Gretchen’s Book Club: Join Marty Kaback and our local book club on Thursday, April 11 at 5:30 pm to discuss the dark, haunting thriller The Turn of the Key by Ruth Ware. 
  • NEW! Lunch Book Club: Bring your lunch and join our new Adult Services librarian on the first Tuesday of every month at noon for a fun, lively book discussion. April 2’s title is the mystery Lightning Strike by William Kent Krueger. Copies of both are at the front desk.
