Board Report
At the Tuesday, January 21 Swanton Library Board trustees meeting:
- The 2025 Permanent Budget was approved.
- Funds were allocated to the library building budget for projects to update or replace the lighting, eaves, and gutters.
- Digital purchasing will increase to help make wait times in the Libby app and on the Ohio Digital
- Library shorter for SPL users.
- Comics Plus will not be renewed; Freegal Music+ will still be available.
- Board Vice President and founding Board member Dan McQuade, who had served on the Board since 1969, has passed away. A Resolution honoring Dan’s memory and incredible legacy has been approved by the Board and is available for perusal in the library.
- The next Board of Trustees meeting is at 7:00 pm on Monday, February 10, a change from the regular schedule due to the holiday. The public is welcome to attend.
The Board of Trustees acknowledges the following gifts with gratitude:

Wednesdays & Thursdays: 10:00 am to 8:00 pm
Fridays: 10:00 am to 5:30 pm
Saturdays: 10:00 am to 2:00 pm

Ongoing Opportunities
- Chair Yoga – Mondays at 4:30 pm. Physical therapist Dawn Seigneur will be here to lead a class in chair yoga. Classes are $5.00 per person. Registration is not required. No class on February 17.
- Dungeons & Dragons Club – Monday, February 24 at 4:30 pm. Please bring a fifth edition third-level character sheet if possible; pre-generated characters will also be available. New players, please register online.
- Fiber Arts Fiends – Wednesdays, February 5 and 19 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Fiber artists of all levels invited to join.
- Writers’ Group – Thursdays, February 13 and 27 at 6:00 pm. Join freelance author Nathan Jacobs and other writers to discuss your work. All skill levels welcome!
- Seam Rippers Sewing Club – Wednesday, February 19 from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Bring your current sewing project. Packed lunches welcome!
- ChessNuts – Wednesdays at 5:00 pm. Adults of all skill levels welcome.
- Swanton Historical Society – Fridays at 10:00 am. Anyone interested in joining or volunteering is welcome!

2025 dog licenses for Fulton County can be purchased and renewed at the library. Come before February 5 to avoid incurring a late fee for renewal. New dog licenses are available anytime.
