TUESDAY TALES STORYTIME

Storytime for preschoolers is held on Tuesdays at 10:45 am. Books, crafts, fingerplays, and more! Children 2 and under must be accompanied by a guardian.

SIMPLY STEAM (K-4)

  • February 5 Adaptation: Winter Survival for Humans. What can humans do to survive the winter?
  • February 12Winter Survival Fun: Hibernation. Design your own warmer dog house!
  • February 26Snowflake Science. Learn all about the science behind snowflakes! 

YOUTH CHESS CLUB (K-12)

February 19 – Kids and teens are invited to join librarian Alonna to learn about and/or play the game!

 

STEAM CLUB EVENTS!

Join us Fridays at 4:15 pm for fun with community partners, science, and more! Grades K-12.

  • SLIME TIME: February 6. Come experiment with all the different ways to make slime!
  • PAPER HEARTS: February 13. Fold all kinds of origami hearts.
  • THE ENGINEERING DESIGN CHALLENGE: February 20. Design a solution for a problem using only the materials on hand.
  • CANVAS PAINTING: February 27. Paint on different sizes of canvas to take home.

Pokémon Club

Are you a fan of Pokémon? Do you like the games? The show? The cards? Pokémon Go? Any of it? All of it? Then SPL’s Pokémon Club is for you – no matter what it is, we’ve got it! 

Join the club at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 28 to celebrate the day after Pokémon Day! Club members are also invited to come to Take Your Child to the Library Day on February 7 (look to the right!) for a Pokémon-themed station!

 

Interested in joining BOLT (Board of Library Teens)? The next meeting is at 4:30 pm on Wednesday, February 4. Pick up an application at the library and bring it to the meeting. Members help with book selection and party planning and eat snacks! Grades 5-12.

 

Teen Clubs

  • Club Club Afterschool for Teens: Every day after school from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Enjoy snacks and arts and crafts, work on homework, or just hang out together. No CCA on February 4, 13, or 16.
  • Prism Club: Tuesdays, February 3 and 17 at 3:30 pm. Participants are encouraged to bring questions and an open mind, and be ready to play games and talk about your favorite pride reads.
  • Cosplay Club: Mondays, February 9 and 23 at 3:30 pm. Meet the club at Sew Beyond Blessed (101 Church Street) to learn more about cosplaying and sewing.
  • Retro Anime Club: Join us from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm on Wednesday, February 18, to watch episodes of older (but great!) anime chosen by the attendees. Japanese snacks included! 

 

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Congratulations to Reagan, who read 500 books, and to Everett (600)! This program is a nationwide challenge encouraging parents and caregivers to read aloud to their children.
