Storytime for preschoolers is held at 10:45 am on Tuesdays. Books, crafts, fingerplays, and more! Children 2 and younger must be accompanied by a guardian.

  • April 21 – Celebrate National Library Week! Come dressed as a favorite book character for storytime this week!

SIMPLY STEAM (K-4)

  • April 2Easter Egg Art. Color eggs with whipped cream and food coloring.
  • April 9Watercolor Techniques. Experiment with painting using watercolors!
  • April 23 Recycle Art. Celebrate National Library Week and Earth Day by making art out of recycled materials!
  • April 30Monarch Butterflies. Learn about pollinators like monarch butterflies and their relationship to milkweed, and plant some of your own!

BOARD GAMES CLUB (K-12)

  • April 16 – Kids and teens are invited to join librarian Alonna to play any board game in the library! 

 

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

Congratulations to Reagan, who finished 600 books! This program is a nationwide challenge encouraging parents and caregivers to read aloud to their children. Families read in 100-book segments, with prizes and photographs. Visit our website or http://1000booksbeforekindergarten.org/ to learn more.

Pokémon Club

Are you a fan of Pokémon? Do you like the games? The show? The cards? Pokémon Go? Any of it? All of it? Then SPL’s Pokémon Club is for you – no matter what it is, we’ve got it! 

Join the club at 11:00 am on Saturday, April 4 to make Pokémon art, watch the show, and play the card game!

 

STEAM CLUB EVENTS!

Join us Fridays at 4:15 pm for fun with community partners, science, and more! Grades K-12.

  • April 3 Zines! Make a mini-magazine, or zine!
  • April 10 Zines! 2. Finish or make a new zine!
  • April 17 Tech Day. Try out some robots and other tech for yourself, experiment with video game and website coding, and more! 
  • April 24 Junk Journals. Make your own journals from recycled “junk” to celebrate National Library Week and Earth Day!

 

Interested in joining BOLT (Board of Library Teens)? The next meeting is on a new day and time this month! Join BOLT at 3:30 pm on Tuesday, April 7. Pick up an application at the library and bring it to the meeting. Members help with book selection and party planning and eat snacks! Grades 5-12.

 

Teen Clubs

  • Club Club Afterschool for Teens: Every day after school from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm. Enjoy snacks, arts and crafts, work on homework, or just hang out together.
  • Prism Club: Tuesdays, April 14 and 28 at 3:30 pm. Participants are encouraged to bring questions and an open mind, and be ready to play games and talk about your favorite pride reads.
  • Retro Anime Club: Join us from 3:30 pm to 5:30 pm on Wednesday, April 15, to watch episodes of older (but great!) anime chosen by the attendees. Japanese snacks included! 
  • Cosplay Club: Cosplay Club will be on hiatus this month.
