ALL AGES VIRTUAL BOOK CLUBS!

Instead of having in-library parties, we’re doing virtual do-it-at-home book clubs for all ages! The best part? Everyone who participates gets to keep the book!

There are four age categories: grades K-3, grades 3-5, grades 5-8, and grades 9-12. There’s some overlap so you can choose which book you’d prefer to read. Every book will come with links to explore, a blank review form, a few questions you can think about, and some activities that tie into the book.

We will have a post up for each book on https://www.splyouth.org for anyone who wants to discuss the book or comment on any of the questions or activities. If you’d prefer not to go online, fill out the included sheets and get them back to the library, and we can post your comments for you! Even better, everyone who either posts on our site or brings back anything included with the book – even if it’s just a picture of the activity you did – will also get a small prize at the library!

Grades 3-5: The Time Warp Trio: Knights of the Kitchen Table by Jon Scieszka

“Magician Uncle Joe’s birthday present entitled ‘The Book’ swirls green mist and grants pal Fred’s wish to ‘see knights and all that stuff for real’, sending Sir Joe the Magnificent, Sir Fred the Awesome, and Sir Sam the Unusual to King Arthur’s castle opposing the Black Knight, grossly smelly giant Bleob, and fire-breathing leather-winged iron-clawed green dragon Smaug. Fred plays tag and wields a baseball bat. Sam cleverly politics. Joe tricks with cards. But Merlin has ‘The Book’ to get home...” (The Time Warp Trio 1, 1998)
