Online Book Club: Killers of the Flower Moon

to

This club focuses on books that have been covered by podcasts; book kits with information about the book, author, podcast, and where to access it will be available to bring home (and keep!) for anyone interested. Participants will join our adult services librarian on Tuesday, August 23 at 5:30 pm on GoogleMeet to discuss Killers of the Flower Moon: The Osage Murders and the Birth of the FBI by David Grann.

“In the 1920s, the richest people per capita in the world were members of the Osage Indian Nation in Oklahoma [a]fter oil was discovered beneath their land… Then, one by one, they began to be killed off, [and] virtually anyone who dared to investigate the killings were themselves murdered. As the death toll surpassed more than twenty-four Osage, the newly created F.B.I. took up the case, in what became one of the organization’s first major homicide investigations... Former Texas Ranger  Tom White put together an undercover team, including one of the only Native American agents in the bureau... Together with the Osage they began to expose one of the most sinister conspiracies in American history,” (KotFM, 2017).
