Online Book Club: The Inugami Curse

to

Online Book Club will focus on books that have been covered by podcasts, so that you can both read the book and listen to others’ thoughts on it as well. Book kits with information about the book, author, podcast, and where to access it will be available to bring home (and keep!) for anyone interested. After reading the book and listening to the podcast, participants will discuss the book online with our adult services librarian on GoogleMeet on Tuesday, April 19; you’ll need to have or sign up for a free gmail account to participate. Pick up a book kit with your free copy in the library or request it via curbside pickup. Originally published in 1951, The Inugami Curse by Seishi Yokomizo is “[a] fiendish classic murder mystery, from one of Japan’s greatest crime writers, featuring the country’s best-loved detective. In 1940s Japan, the wealthy head of the Inugami clan dies, and his family eagerly await the reading of the will. But no sooner are its strange details revealed than a series of bizarre, gruesome murders begins. Detective Kindaichi must unravel the clan’s terrible secrets of forbidden liaisons, monstrous cruelty, and hidden identities to find the murderer, and lift the curse wreaking its bloody revenge on the Inugamis,” (The Inugami Curse, 2020 edition).
