Camp Delaware: Film & History

to

In honor of Juneteenth, Francine and Mark Butler of the Community Arts Network will be here at 10:00 am on Saturday, June 13 to show their film Camp Delaware, about the 5th United States Colored Infantry Regiment, the Civil War regiment that trained there. These mostly Ohioan men trained in a segregated facility about 25 miles north of Columbus after the Emancipation Proclamation opened a way into the Union Army. Authentic speeches from key political figures of the era, personal letters from the troops, and evocative period music tell the story of Ohio’s African American Civil War soldiers, their contributions to the nation in their day, and their significance to us today.
