Janet Amid is returning to SPL! From 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Tuesday, January 11, Toledo’s favorite astrologer will talk to us about astrology, dreams, and her own predictions for 2022. Five audience members will also receive a ‘mini astrological profile’; birthdays and time of birth are needed for these! This program is free, but registration is required.

Cardmaking: Love Is In the Cards

Cardmaking returns! Teacher Anna Geis will be here to show participants how to make three different cards, all with a Valentine’s Day theme. Class fee is $7/person for three cards; all supplies are provided. This class is scheduled for Thursday, January 20 at 5:00 pm. To participate, call, stop in, or register through our website. Online Adult Book Club: Ella Minnow Pea

Online Book Club: Pick up a book packet, read the book, and either join the online discussion on the library’s Facebook beginning December 21 or return the book review sheet to the library. December’s choice is the satirical novel Ella Minnow Pea: A Progressively Lipogrammatic Epistolary Fable by Mark Dunn. Call or register on our website to participate. Marty’s Book Club: Nomadland

Marty’s Book Club: Readers meet at 5:30 pm on Thursday, December 9, to discuss Nomadland: Surviving America in the Twenty-First Century by Jessica Bruder. “Employers have discovered a new, low-cost labor pool, made up largely of transient older adults. These invisible casualties of the Great Recession have taken to the road by the tens of thousands in RVs and modified vans, forming a growing community of nomads… Bruder hits the road to get to know her subjects more intimately,” (Nomadland, 2017). Toastbusters: Soup Swap

This month the club will focus on Soup Swap: Comforting Recipes to Make and Share by Kathy Gunst. Bring samples of your favorite soup recipe with you and join us at 5:30 pm on Tuesday, December 14. Copies of this month’s cookbook are limited, so stop in, call, or register through our website right away!

 

Winter Landscape Painting Class

Join local artist Rick Fravor at 10:00 am on Saturday, December 18 for an acrylic painting class! Participants will learn how to paint their own wintry landscape just in time for Christmas. In the spirit of the season, FOSPL will cover the costs; all supplies will be provided for free. Registration is limited, so call us or sign up on our website as soon as you can!

On Saturday, November 20 at 11:00 am, join Mary Frost of Frosted Designs for a beginner’s photography class! Participants will learn tips and tricks for how to best use your camera (be it your phone camera or otherwise), especially under the conditions we normally find ourselves in as we try to take our holiday family photos! This program is free to attend, and registration is not required.
